About Yorba Linda
HISTORY - In 1910, the Jan's Land and Water Company was advertising Yorba Linda Real Estate as the Orange Land. The soil was free of alkaline and adobe, and all the fruits and vegetables that could be planted in this prosperous land were yet to be discovered. The price was a whopping $250.00 per acre. So many discoveries and rich land were to be had by anyone with the spirit and courage to come out west. The historical society of Yorba Linda has a wonderful website where you can read articles and advertisements from the early days. Amelia Davila wrote in 1893 a fascinating account of the heritage of Yorba Linda for the Santa Ana Weekly Blade. She describes her surroundings as "fruitful" with "the sweetest birds, the brightest sunshine" and letting all who read this, "let them come and find out for themselves and they will be gladly welcomed"
ATTRACTIONS - Looking for things to do in Yorba Linda? The Black Gold Golf Course is one of the newest recreational facilities in town. Located in the Vista Del Verde master planned community the golf course offers 18 hole play with stunning views and a charming waterfall off the 18th hole. There are over 20 parks for recreation and youth activities. At Hurless Barton park you will find fun and games for all ages, as well as concerts in the park and art exhibits. 
The Yorba Linda Masonic Lodge is where the Yorba Linda Arts Alliance has promoted their Plan Air and Photo Contest annually. This April of 2007 marks their second showing. They had such a positive response that the event will surely become a favorite for the community of Yorba Linda. There is also the Yorba Linda Country Club, a private course with 18 hole par 4´s, and the Richard M Nixon Library and Birthplace.
Another interesting place in Yorba Linda is the Yorba Cemetery. It is one of the oldest cemeteries in Orange County, built in 1858 by Bernardo Yorba. The Orange County Board of Supervisors now maintains the site which holds the graves of over 400 Yorba family members and friends. Some say the cemetery is haunted by The Pink Lady -- a women dressed in a pink gown known to walk among the grave sites. She supposedly was killed while riding her buggy home one night in 1910 and, as yet, is not resting peacefully.
